“Wanna get a drink?” He asked, after we’d danced to a couple of songs. I nodded my head and looked around for Bonnie. She was dancing with the blonde surfer looking guy. I motioned towards the bar and she shook her head and began kissing him. I blushed at how bold and brave she was. I’d had my fair share of kisses but I had only slept with one guy. I’d never been one for hooking up with guys in clubs, certainly not as quickly as Bonnie had seemed to get to work anyway. I guess I felt inexperienced at the whole dating/dancing thing.

“What do you want?” The guy, whose name I still didn’t know asked me.

“Vodka and coke please… By the way I’m Rose.”

“Jacob.” He chuckled. I smiled at him as he put his arm around me while we waited for our drinks. “Let’s sit down.” He motioned towards a table and we walked over there together. His hand was on my back, guiding me. His touch was electric; my body felt like it was on fire, I had never felt like this before and I wondered if it was something to do with the alcohol.

“So, Rose. Tell me about yourself.” He sat back in his seat and he looked at me, waiting for me to answer.

“There’s not much to tell really… I go to college… Live at home with my family…”

  “So, how old are you?”

“Eighteen.” I said, quietly. He rose his eyebrows up as if he didn’t believe me. I leant over the table and whispered; “Ok, I’m seventeen.” He chuckled and nodded his head. “How old are you?”

“Well, I am actually eighteen… I go to college… I live with my brother and my best friend, Matt.” He pointed Matt out to me.

“No way! That’s my best friend Bonnie, dancing with him.” We sat in silence, looking into each other eyes when one of my favourite songs came on. I downed my drink, placed the glass on the table and said; “Love this song… You coming?” He chuckled again and got up and grabbed my hand as he found us a space off to the side of the dance floor to dance. I was singing along and shaking my body to the song. His hands were all over my body and I loved it. His hands were slightly rough and I wondered what else he did in his spare time. The next song slowed down. He pulled me towards him and I wrapped my arms around his neck, we swayed gently to the song and I felt like I had known this guy for a lot longer than a couple of hours. I was kind of sad that we would be going our separate ways soon. Jacob must have sensed what I was thinking as he pulled my chin up so he could see my eyes.

“Are you ok?” He looked concerned.

“Yeah… Just hot… Can we…” I nodded towards the back of the room, where it would be cooler and less crowded. He didn’t move so I unpeeled my arms from around his neck and stepped back. “I’m gonna go and cool down… You can dance with someone else… If you want...” I walked off of the dance floor and was surprised that I felt upset that he didn’t want to come with me. I felt myself wanting to go home. A couple of seconds later I felt someone grab my hand. I looked over my shoulder and Jacob smiled at me and nodded his head for me to continue walking.

“So, Rose… What time do you have to be home tonight?” Jacob whispered in my ear. I was standing with my back against the cold wall and he was standing in front of me.

“I’m staying at Bonnie’s tonight and her parents are away…” I told him. I pulled my bottom lip in between my teeth and he looked at what I was doing. He moved closer towards me and I thought he was going to kiss me. I looked over his shoulder briefly and shit, I could see my sister. She was heading towards us. If she saw me I was going to be in so much trouble. I looked back at Jacob and he must have seen the look on my face as he was backing away. I didn’t know what to do, Jacob was backing away and my sister was heading over. I didn’t think I just acted. I grabbed the front of Jacob’s shirt, pulled him towards me and crushed my lips against his. I must have pulled him off balance as he had to steady himself with his hand against the wall. He kissed me back and I lost all train of thought. All I could concentrate on were his soft lips and the urgency with which he kissed me. After a couple of minutes we broke apart and we were both panting.

“Let’s go back to mine.” He said to me. I hesitated and didn’t move. I must have looked worried as he continued with; “Just for a few drinks… I’m not expecting anything.”

“Ppfft… You’re a guy… They always expect something.” I told him, as I began to walk away.

“Hey, where did that come from?” He asked, following behind me. I shook my head and began looking for Bonnie. I couldn’t find her; surely she wouldn’t have left without me. What if she had? I would have to go home, to my house, and then I would be in so much trouble with my parents. I was starting to panic, where could she be? What if she was in trouble? I was looking around wildly.

“Hey, hey…” Jacob said, as he placed his hands on either side of my face. “What’s wrong? Calm down.”

“I… I can’t find Bonnie.” I took a deep breath and tried to calm down.

“It’s ok, she can’t have gone far… She was with Matt.” I nodded and he kissed me gently. I melted and calmed down. When I opened my eyes I saw my sister again, this time she had her back to me.

“I need to get out of here.”

“Why?” Jacob looked at me, confused.

“I’m sorry… My sister is over there… If she sees me, I will be in so much trouble… I’m sorry, I know I sound like I’m still in school, but she won’t hesitate to tell our Mum and Dad… They will flip.” I placed my head on his chest, embarrassed and he chuckled.

“Come on let’s go outside and I’ll call Matt.” I nodded my head and he lifted my chin and kissed me briefly. He tugged my hand and we walked outside.

Jacob called Matt and he said that he and Bonnie would meet us outside. We were waiting and I was watching the door every time it opened. When I finally saw Bonnie, I ran towards her and asked if she was ok. She was quite drunk and swaying, I could barely hold her up.

  “How much has she had to drink?” I asked Matt. He shrugged his shoulders and said;

  “A few shots.”

“How come you’re not drunk?” I asked him, practically accusing him of getting my best friend pissed.

  “I’m driving.” He told me, showing me his car keys. “Come on.” He started walking off and I screamed;

“You got her drunk, you can carry her!” He stopped and looked at me with his eyebrows raised. I glared at him and he walked back over and threw Bonnie over his shoulder. Jacob grabbed my hand and began leading me towards the car.

“Wait… Maybe we should just call a taxi…” I hesitated. I barely knew these guys and I was considering getting in a car with them and going back to their place. I didn’t know what they were capable of. My head was screaming at me to grab Bonnie and get in a taxi, but my heart was telling me to trust Jacob. We’d clicked from the first moment we met and he hadn’t pushed himself on me; I was the one who made the first move, I’d kissed him first.

“What’s up Rose?” Jacob asked me, holding onto my hand.

“I… I don’t really know you.” He smiled at me and all my worries seemed to vanish. He looked genuinely concerned and there was something about him that made me want to trust him.

“Come on Rose… Let’s go.” Bonnie shouted at me. “These hot guys are waiting.”

“Ok.” I walked hand in hand with Jacob towards Matt’s car and got in.

Ten minutes later we were pulling up to a large building. They lived really close to the college Bonnie and I went to.

“This is where you live?” I asked quietly.

“Yeah, top floor though, I’m afraid.” I nodded and he held his hand out for me to get out of the car. I climbed out and looked at Bonnie; she was managing to walk by herself, though I still wanted to get some black coffee into her. I didn’t want her to end up doing something she might regret in the morning. We walked through the main door and waited for the lift; I was not going to walk all the way up there in my heels.

We were walking through the front door and I was surprised to see that it ope
ned into a very clean and tidy flat. Jacob walked into the kitchen and put the kettle on. “Who wants coffee?” He called out.

“Hell no… I haven’t been drinking, I’m catching up. Who’s with me?” Matt asked, holding up a bottle of whiskey.

“Me me me.” Bonnie called out, grabbing the bottle off of him.

“Bonnie, I think you should have coffee.” I told her.

“Hell no… Which room is yours?” She asked Matt. He grabbed her hand and off they went to his bedroom.

  “Coffee?” Jacob asked me. I nodded and asked;

“Where’s your brother?” I perched on a stool at the breakfast bar waiting for his answer.

“Who knows, probably in some chick’s bed.” He shrugged. I felt a chill go through me and I wrapped my arms around myself. After dancing in the hot club all night I hadn’t noticed how chilly the night had become. “You cold?”

“Just a little bit, I’ll be ok once I’ve had some coffee.”

“Hold on a minute.” Jacob walked away and when he came back he was carrying a hoody. “Here…” He handed it to me and I looked at it and then him. “Don’t worry… It’s clean.” He chuckled.

“Oh, no… I didn’t mean that… I… I just wasn’t expecting it… Thank you.” I slipped the hoody over my head. It smelt of him and I liked that. It was a bit too big for me, but it was warmer than just sitting wearing my low-cut dress.

“Shall we go and sit down on the sofa?” He asked me and I nodded. He carried both of our mugs and set them down onto the coffee table. I sat on the sofa and pulled my shoes off.

“Oh thank God, my feet are killing me.”

“Why do you wear those things if they hurt your feet?” Jacob asked.

“Because they make me taller and my legs longer.” I said, as I stretched my legs out in front of me. “I’m only little really.”

“Stand up.” He said, as he rose up from the sofa. I looked up at him and he pulled me upwards towards him. I was standing in front of him. “Wow, you are only little… I like it.” He bent his head towards me and I stretched up on my tip toes and kissed him.

“Do you wanna watch a movie?” Jacob asked me. His hands were still on my hips and I could feel his thumb brushing again my hip bone.

“Let’s play that.” I said pointing to the games console that was by the TV.

  “The Xbox? Really?”

“Yep… Do you have COD?” I sat back on the sofa and curled my legs under my bottom.

“Of course… Who owns an Xbox and doesn’t have Call of Duty?” I giggled at what he’d said. He turned the TV on and passed me a controller whilst he put the game in. “Are we playing on the same team?”

“Hell no, I wanna kick your butt.”

“You can try darling, you can try.” He said, chuckling. Once he’d sat down and got the game loaded, we both were quiet as we concentrated on beating one another. I sneaked a peek at Jacob and he had a serious expression on his face which made me giggle. I wasn’t sure how long we were playing but we must have got sucked into the game as when Bonnie came stumbling out of Matt’s bedroom she said it was three in the morning.

  “Where’s Matt?” I asked Bonnie.

“Fallen asleep, I’m exhausted, can we go?”

“Sure…” I told her. “Told you I would win.” I gloated to Jacob.

“Technically you haven’t won as the game hasn’t finished.”

“Well we gotta go, maybe a re-match sometime?” I said, putting the controller down on the coffee table and grabbing my shoes. He nodded and smiled at me. “We gotta call a taxi.” I said to Bonnie, pulling out my phone.

“Hey, no. I will take you both home.” Jacob said standing up.

  “You sure?” I asked.

“Yeah, I haven’t drunk anything in hours and have had loads of coffee.”

“Great thanks.” I put my shoes on and we walked out of the flat towards the lift.

As soon as we pulled up to Bonnie’s house she got out and ran to the front door while I said goodbye to Jacob.

“Thanks, this was fun.” I told him. I looked down at my hands, I didn’t really know what to say or do. I jumped when I felt his finger under my chin, bringing my head up to look at him.

“Can I see you again?” He asked, smiling.

  “Uh… Sure, if you want?”

He chuckled. “How about tomorrow night? Give me your phone; I will put my number in it.” I passed him my phone and saw him pressing buttons. When he handed it back I rang his phone.

“Now you have mine too.” I leant towards him and placed my hand on his chest. I felt muscles and I found myself wondering if he was muscly all over. I heard a grunt coming from the back of his throat and I leaned in and kissed him gently. He weaved his hands into my hair and tilted my head so he could deepen the kiss. He licked and nibbled on my bottom lip until I opened my mouth and then our tongues began working together. The sensations that overtook my body surprised me; my panties were starting to dampen and my head was beginning to spin. Jacob kissing me felt amazing and I didn’t want to stop. We pulled apart and were both breathing heavily. I smiled at him and got out of the car. Before I shut the door I said; “Text me when you are home safe.”

“Will do, babe.” Babe? It felt nice him calling me that, but I didn’t want to get ahead of myself. I had only met this guy this evening and I wasn’t really looking to start a relationship. I watched as he pulled away and I was surprised that I felt disappointment when he left. What was I doing? You don’t just meet a guy in a club and fall in love, it doesn’t work that easily. I walked in through the front door of Bonnie’s house and she was standing smiling at me. I smiled back.

“What’s up with you?” I asked her.

  “You like him?”

“Of course I like him, what’s not to like? I probably won’t see him again.” I shrugged my shoulders as I removed my shoes and that’s when I realised I didn’t give him his hoody back. I wasn’t going to part with it yet and I thought I might sleep in it too.

  Chapter 3

Bonnie and I got up early and had decided to spend a few hours on the beach. We were soaking up the sun. The whole time we were there Bonnie’s phone kept ringing.

“Who keeps calling you?” I asked her, sitting up and leaning on my elbows so I could look at her.

“Ugh…” She looked at her mobile phone. “It’s Matt.” She threw it into her bag, ignoring it again.

  “From last night?”

“Yeah, he wants to go out again.”

“That’s great.” I was pleased for her; she hadn’t really dated anyone since her ex, a year ago.

“No… I only wanted a night of fun.” She informed me.

  “Did you sleep with him?” Bonnie nodded. “He seems really nice, Jacob had nothing but nice things to say about him. Why won’t you see him again?” I was sat up with my legs crossed, I was looking at Bonnie and she seemed to zone out. “Bonnie?” She snapped her eyes back to mine and said;

“I’m not interested in seeing anyone.”

  “But Bonnie…”

“No buts… Not after… No, I’m not seeing him again, it was fun, sex… That’s it.” Bonnie put her sunglasses back on and I knew not to push it anymore. I lay back down and my mind wandered off to thoughts of a certain hot guy.

  Ping. That was the text message notification on my phone, my heart rate sped up and I felt a tingling sensation throughout my body. I was excited at the thought that Jacob might have been texting me. I was disappointed when I opened the text to find it was from Amelia;

What time will you be home?

  Don’t know, y?

Dad has booked table for 6, better not be late

  I won’t be.

  Where are you?????

  Out

My sister was so nosey. I threw my phone back into my bag. She always had to ask where I was. She was always checking up on me. I couldn’t wait until she went to university so she would be far away from me. My phone started ringing and I knew
that it would be her. She would only keep ringing if I didn’t answer it. I grabbed it out of my bag and didn’t look at the display as I answered it.

  “What.”

  “Rose?”

“Oh, sorry. Hi Jacob.” Shit, now I felt stupid. Why hadn’t I just looked at the caller display?

“Are you ok? Or do you always answer the phone like that?” I heard him chuckle and I instantly relaxed. I looked over towards Bonnie and she motioned that she was going for a swim. I mouthed to her; ‘I will walk down with you’.

“No, sorry… My sister has been bugging me.” Once we reached the edge of the water Bonnie walked straight in and I paddled at the edge, the water was cool and refreshing between my toes.

“Oh, the one from the club?”

“The one and only… Uh… What’s up?” I began looking around to see if he was on the beach today; it was fairly busy so I probably wouldn’t have been able to spot him if I tried.

“I wanted to see if I could take you out tonight?” I stopped looking around and went still.

  “Seriously?”

“Yeah… I did ask last night… Did you not think I was serious?”

“Um… I wasn’t sure.” I thought to hell with it, I was going to be honest with him. No point in lying.

“Rose, I want to see you again…” There was a pause.

  “Yeah, me too…”

  “Tonight?”

“Yeah… Oh wait, shit… I forgot, we are going to The Fortune Cookie. My mum insisted on it.” I felt silly telling him I couldn’t go out with him because I had to have tea with my family. He was going to see me as a child.

“That’s ok, how about we catch a movie after?”

“Really?” I was amazed he still wanted to see me.

“Yeah, text me when you’re done and we can meet.” My heart began beating rapidly and I was excited to see him again. “Rose?”

“Oh, sorry… Yeah that sounds great.”

“Looking forward to it… See you later.”
